This vintage original poster was created by Danish artist Otto Nielson for the Scandinavian Airline System and issued in the early to mid 1950s. For this poster Nielson renders a Mid-Century Modern design featuring an African woman in colorful attire looking upward to a modern SAS airline which looks to be the Douglas DC-4 prop airliner. This poster isn’t dated but Nielson began working for SAS in the early 1950s and the Douglas DC-4 aircraft were operated by the airline from its inception in 1946 until 1956. The lower margin indicates this poster was printed in Copenhagen, Denmark by Andreasen & Lachmann and Nielson's initials appear in print in the lower right corner.
This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed with some touchup as needed including expert repair to a tear of a few inches on the top edge and small bits of replaced loss on the upper left and lower right corner tips. A couple short tears and small abrasions on the edges have also been professionally touched up. The original color remains and the poster displays very nicely. Overall condition is very good.
