This rare pictorial map of the mountainous Laurel Canyon neighborhood in Los Angeles’s Hollywood Hills was created by the artist James “Wren” Lister in 1949. The title “Laurel Canyon’s Own Map” is printed along the upper boarder and the right and left borders are decorated with small cartoonish illustrations highlight some of area’s points of interest. A 1949 copyright by Wren Lister appears in the lower left hand corner of the map image so thus the date. This vintage original pictorial map is printed one side only and is a rare one with a Worldcat search locating no copies.

This map shows some toning from age and light handling wear including a short tear of about a half inch on the lower edge and another short tear of about a quarter inch on the right edge but nothing torn off or missing. Overall condition is very good.
