This TWA poster was produced in the mid 1950s by David Klein who created many wonderful posters for the airline in the 1950s and 1960s. The Fountain of Neptune is featured from Rome’s Piazza Navona.  Neptune himself is locked in mortal combat with an Octopus as a Lockheed Constellation, the airliner that formed the backbone of the TWA’s Atomic Age fleet, flies overhead.

Rome’s Fountain of Neptune dates to the 16th century but the Neptune statuary we see today wasn’t added until the 1870s. Italian Renaissance poet Petrarch said that “A fool is one who admires other cities without visiting Rome”.  With this lovely poster on your wall you’ll be no fool and you can visit Rome every day.

This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and doesn’t appear to have ever been hung. The poster has a short tear of about a half inch (1 cm) at the lower edge, the upper left hand corner is lightly creased at the tip and the poster shows modest handling wear.  Overall condition is very good.
