This WWI era poster was issued by the American Library Association’s War Service Committee in support of their campaign to provide books for American soldiers fighting on the faraway battlefields of Europe. Books provided an escape from the drudgery of military camp life and the hardships of front line trenches. The poster’s title Knowledge Wins reflects a belief that books for soldiers were an essential part of the overall war effort and would help to achieve the ultimate goal of victory. This lower margin indicates “Designed And Printed By Thomsen-Ellis Company :: Baltimore : New York”.

This vintage original poster has bold color and displays beautifully.   A few short tears and small nicks on the margins have been expertly repaired as has a small bit of paper loss on the margin near the upper right-hand corner not affecting the image area.  Overall condition is very good.
