This is a vintage original poster was created by the artist Adrian “Gil” Spear for the YMCA and the United War Work Campaign in the closing month of WWI. The United War Work Campaign was organized by several non-governmental organizations to raise money for programs supporting American soldiers during WWI. The YMCA along with the American Library Association, the Jewish Welfare Board and other charitable organizations helped to organize and promote the 1918 UWW campaign. Gil Spear’s son, also named Gil Spear, would became a highly influential and important designer in the American automobile industry in the 1930s and 1940s.

This original antique poster is in very good condition overall. The poster has remnants from two small WWI era water transfer decals attached on the verso on the upper right and upper left hand corners which look like they were applied to mount the poster in a window. The decals don’t affect the front of the poster and could be easily removed if you wanted have this poster linen backed. The poster is otherwise in very good condition overall with just light handling wear and modest toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
