This vintage original and rare WWII poster was issued in 1943 and targets women as recruits for the United States Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. A woman Marine with resolute gaze looks forward as a battle scene unfolds in the background behind her. The poster’s tag line “Be A Marine…Free A Marine To Fight” and “U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Reserve” are printed below the image area. More than 19,000 women served in the U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Reserve during WWII and together made tremendous contribution to the ultimate victory but it was not until 1948 that the Women's Armed Services Integration Act gave women permanent status in the United States Marines Corps. The lower margin indicates “McCandlish Litho Corporation, Phila., PA”.

This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear and some toning from age. The poster was issued folded. Overall condition is very good.
