This poster was created by the artist Carolyn Moorhead Edmundson during WWII and issued by the U.S. Public Health Service to promote enlistment into the United States Nurse Corps. The Cadet Nursing Corps was authorized by Congress and signed into law by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1943 and operated until 1948. More than 124,000 student nurses graduated from the program and the program itself was credited with helping to alleviated acute shortages of qualified civilian nurses during World War II. This vintage original WWII shows some toning from age and light handling wear and doesn’t appear to have ever been used. The poster was issued folded and ships that way. Overall condition is very good.
