This vintage original WWII poster was created by Belgian-American artist Georges Schreiber and issued to support the Fifth War Loan Drive that ran in June and July, 1944. This poster commemorates the USS Dorado which was an US Navy submarine lost off the coast of Panama along with her crew of 77 on or about 12 October 1943. The submarine was thought to have possibly been the victim of friendly fire from American aircraft conducting anti-submarine activities in the area but was later determined to have more likely struck a mine laid by a German U-boat.

The poster is folded as issued. There are a couple small pinholes on the top and bottom margins and the margins show some toning from age. The poster shows some moderate handling wear and still retains rich color. Overall condition is very good.  This poster ships folded.
