This poster was produced by the publicity department of the Westinghouse Corporation just after the end of WWII to highlight the company’s roll in developing the FH Phantom jet fighter aircraft for the United States Navy. The poster touts the Phantom’s top speed of more than 500 miles per hour and landing speed comparable to conventional carrier-based fighters. The FH Phantom was the first purely jet-powered aircraft to land on an American aircraft carrier and the first jet deployed by the United States Marine Corps. Only 62 FH Phantoms had been built by the end of WWII but the aircraft proved the viability of carrier-based jet fighters and led to the development of F2H Banshee, a primary jet fighter of the US Navy during the Korean War.

The lower margin is printed “News Poster 133– Post November 1, 1946”.

This poster is a vintage original showing moderate handling wear and minor paper loss on the edge near the upper left hand corner. Overall condition is very good for this rare vintage original poster highlighting Westinghouse’s roll in the early development of military aircraft jet engine technology .
