This is a vintage original Atomic Age pictorial cartoon map of the Long Pine Playground region of north central Minnesota issued by the Long Pine Playground Association of Hackensack, Minnesota. This is a folding map that folds open to about 34” x 22” with the pictorial cartoon map with advertising all around the borders covering the entirety of one side. Included are whimsical icons and cartoonish caricatures illustrating special features and points of interest in the region. The cartouche area of the map has a 1958 copyright and is titled 1959 Map Of Long Pine Playground In Minnesota with Lakes, Roads and Historical Data. The cartouche area also indicates this map is printed by the Lakeland Color Press of Brainerd, Minnesota.

Lakes featured include Long Lake, Leech Lake, Little Boy Lake, Big Boy Lake, Woman Lake, Ten Mile Lake, Walker Bay, Agency Lake, Whitefish Lake and many others. Towns features include Walker, Whipholt, Longville, Hackensack, Backus, Pine River, and Jenkins.

This vintage original map is folded as issued in an excellent, near mint condition. The colors are bold and it doesn’t look like this map was ever unfolded or used. This map would frame up beautifully.
