This vintage original poster was issued by the United States Civil Service Commission in 1951 to help recruit women to work in Washington DC as stenographers and typists. This poster features an image of a smiling woman sitting a typewriter with outlines of various Washington DC landmark buildings visible across the top of the poster. Text on the poster reads:
STENOGRAPHERS AND TYPISTS – COME TO WASHINGTON. There’s an important job for you here. Your Government needs your services and offers you good pay and opportunities for advancement. No experience is required.
The bottom of the poster has brief information on how to apply for these jobs and the lower right corner indicates a 1951 GPO print date. This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes, is folded as issued and looks pretty well unused. There is a small nick of less than a 1/8” on the right edge and the poster is otherwise in near mint condition.
