This vintage original circus poster was issued by the Cole Brothers Circus probably in the 1930s.   A friendly hippopotamus gives two youngsters a ride as carny folk, circus characters and the Big Tent can be seen in the background.   The lower edge is printed with a banner proclaiming “The Children’s Favorite Circus”.    The lower right hand corner margin is printed “Erie Litho. & Ptg. Co., Erie, PA.”   

This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed with some expert touchup and repair as needed.   The poster had a tear of several inches on the left edge and a couple other shorter edge tears all without paper loss and all expertly repaired.   There is some toning to the margins and some touchup overpainting on the margins.  A couple short tears and slight abrasions on the edges and in the image area have been mitigated.   The poster has pleasing color and displays very well.   Overall condition is very good.
