This is a vintage original 1946 trolly car style horizontal format poster issued by The Advertising Council in cooperation with the United States Treasury to help promote the sale of U.S. Savings Bonds. This poster features an idealized image of an American family smiling broadly and looking toward a tidy white house which appears like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. The poster has text that reads U.S. Savings Bonds Will Help You Get There – Now Back Your Future. This poster is an artifact of the great suburban migration that followed WWII when millions of Americans realized the dream of homeownership for the first time.
The lower margin indicates a 1946 publication date. This poster is printed one side only on lightweight cardboard in the format most commonly used for overhead advertising on streetcars, buses and passenger trains.
This poster shows slight toning and moderate handling and has a couple short tears on the top edge. There is a small chip off the left hand corner not affecting text or illustrations and a small bit of creasing to that corner. The colors are strong and overall condition is very good for this rare vintage original.
