This graphically elaborate vintage original pictorial bird’s-eye view map of midtown Manhattan was designed by German cartographer Hermann Bollmann and published by Pictorial Maps, Inc in the early 1963. The map itself folds open to about 43” x 33.75” and is contained in pictorial covers along with a visitor guide type booklet of 48 pages. Text on the inside front cover indicates this is the first bird’s-eye view type map drawn of the city since 1866 and that over 67,000 photographs were taken in the course of the map’s design. The verso is printed with another map of the Greater New York City area.
This map is fully complete and in excellent condition with the outer covers showing light handling wear. Overall condition is very good.
