This vintage original poster featuring a pictorial cartoon map of the United States was issued as an advertising and promotional piece by the Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation subsidiary of the French aerospace company Aerospatiale. The poster features a stylized image of North America including Canada, Mexico and the United States decorated with Aerospatiale helicopters engaged in a wide variety of tasks. Text printed in the lower left hand corner indicates that 700 Aerospatiale helicopters were operational in North America and gives the company’s address as 2701 Forum Drive in Grand Prairie, Texas. The artist’s name “M. Ward” is signed in the lower righthand corner of the image. The Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation is part of Airbus today.
This poster isn’t dated but the Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation opened their Grand Prairie, Texas facility in 1980. The poster lists a Telex number for the company. Telex machines were rapidly displaced by fax machines in the early 1980s so we would date this poster to the early 1980s. This vintage original poster looks unused with no tape or pinholes and only light handling wear including edges slightly bumped in spots and a short quarter inch tear in the margin on the left edge. Overall condition is excellent.
