This is a vintage original gelatin silver glossy double-weight 10.5” x 13.25” photograph of Hollywood actors David Niven, Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone in the 1938 Warner Brothers war film The Dawn Patrol taken by noted Warner Brothers studio photographer Elmer Fryer.  This photo has Fryer’s studio handstamp on verso which along with a caption slip that reads:

DAVID NIVEN, ERROL FLYNN AND BASIL RATHBONE (L. TO R.) STARS OF WARNER BROS. EPIC OF WORLD WAR AVIATION, “DAWN PATROL” IN A SOLEMN TRIBUTE TO THEIR COLLEAGUES WHO’VE “GONE WEST.” From: Warner Bros. Studio – Burbank, California

The Dawn Patrol was a 1938 remake of the 1930 pre-Code film of the same name based on the short story "The Flight Commander" by John Monk Saunders.  The film was directed by Edmund Goulding and romanticizes many aspects of the World War I aviation experience that have since become clichés: white scarves, hard-drinking fatalism by doomed pilots, chivalry in the air between combatants, the short life expectancy of new pilots, and the legend of the "Red Baron".

This vintage original large format double-weight Elmer Fryer photograph is in very good condition overall with just light handling wear.   Overall condition is very good.  This photo comes with a protective archival holder and will ship fully insured and very well packed.
