This original antique poster was issued by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee of London as Poster No. 88 to promote enlistment in the British Army in 1915.   This poster depicts a British Army officer with rifle and bayonet beckoning the viewer to step forward as silhouette army marches by in the background.  The poster’s simple and direct title AN APPEAL TO YOU appears in block capitals across the bottom anchoring the image and personalizing the message to the viewer.     

The lower margin indicates this poster was published as Poster No. 88 by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee of London and printed by Roberts & Lette, Ltd. of  London.  

This poster is on an older linen backing with wooden dowels attached on the top and bottom edges that appear to be original to when the poster was issued originally in 1915.  The wooden dowels could be removed easily if you wanted to do that.  The poster shows some small abrasions and light lateral creasing in places and some toning from age.  Overall condition is very good for the original antique British WWI poster.
