This is an original antique letter press broadside style poster issued in 1917 shortly after American entry into World War One. This poster is text only in patriotic red, white and blue block capital letters with each section in different type sizes and fonts and reads:
MAKE YOUR DOLLARS END THE WAR – YOUR LIBERTY YOUR FOREFATHERS DIED FOR IS AT STAKE – IF YOU CAN’T FIGHT YOUR MONEY CAN – BUY A LIBERTY BOND AND UNCLE SAM WILL DO THE REST
The lower left corner is printed Washington: Government Printing Office 1917 so thus the date. This poster was likely issued for the First Liberty Loan which was authorized in April 1917 making this one of the first official American posters of World War One.
This antique original poster was issued folded and shows moderate handling wear including some wear on fold lines and bumped edges as well as a bit of light foxing in places and toning to the paper from age. Overall condition is very good.
