This is an original antique 1918 poster advertising Blues and Jazz records available on the Columbia label issued by the Columbia Phonograph Company.   This poster would have been used for advertising in stores that sold Columbia records and features a whimsical illustration of an African American jazz band with the Columbia Grafonola logo under the title Blues and Jazz Selections on Columbia Records.   Seven 10-inch and one 12-inch doubled sided Columbia records are listed below including records by W.C. Handy, Wilbur Sweatman, Earl Fuller and others important artists associated with early 20th century Jazz, Blues and Ragtime music.  All records listed are advertised at 85 cents each.  The list includes:

A 2548 - Everybody’s Crazy ‘Bout the Doggone Blues and Regretful Blues by Sweatman’s Jazz Band

A 2640 – Calicoco and When You Come Back by the Joseph C. Smith Orchestra

A 2403 – Ida! Sweet as Apple Cider and More Candy by Earl Fuller’s Rector Novelty Orchestra

A 2417 – Old Town Pump and Sweet Child by Handy’s Orchestra (W.C. Handy)

A 5920 – Homesick Blues and Florida Blues by Prince’s Band (Charles A. Prince)

A 2576 – Goulash and Jazzie Addie by the Jazarimba Band (Yerkes Jazarimba Orchestra)

A 2578 – The Missouri Waltz and Smiles by Earl Fuller’s Rector Novelty Orchestra

A2481 – Everybody’s Crazy ‘Bout the Doggone Blues and I Ain’t Got Nobody Much by George O’Connor

This vintage original poster has document code “Adv. 1246-10-18” printed on the lower left corner which we take to indicate a 1918 publication date.  This poster is free of tape of pinholes and shows light handling wear and some toning from age.  There is dust staining or light soiling most evident in the upper margin along the top edge and the foxing shows mostly to the bottom half of the poster.   Overall condition is otherwise very good for this antique Jazz Age original.
