This is a vintage original poster promoting the Clyde Coast of Scotland was created by the artist Pieter Irwin Brown in 1930 for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway.  The Firth of Clyde, sometimes referred to as the Clyde Waters of Clyde Sea, is the estuary of the River Clyde, on the west coast of Scotland. This beautiful part of the world is known for the rugged landscape and some of the deepest coastal waters of the British Isles.  For this poster Brown renders a westerly view of a tawny sky at sunset illuminating passing clouds and distant craggy highlands with boats at rest on the placid waters below.   Text below the image reads:

THE CLYDE COAST for HOLIDAYS – Illustrated Guide And All Information From Any Station Or Agency – London Midland & Scottish Railway

Brown’s name is signed in print in the lower right corner of the image area and the lower margin indicates this poster was printed by Waterlow & Sons of London, Dunstable and Watford.

This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen with some expert touch up and restoration as needed including repair to couple tears on the bottom edge and some restoration to small amounts of paper loss in the margin on the corner tips.  A couple small pieces of desiccated tape were removed from the back of the poster and neutralized prior to linen backing and a few small abrasions and short edge tears were also corrected.  Prospective buyers are welcome to contact us for photos of the poster prior to linen backing.
