This vintage original WWII era American Red Cross poster featuring the artwork of German born American illustrator Wilhelm Jes Schlaikjer was issued in 1943. An American GI gives an encouraging smile in spite of his hellish no-man’s land battlefield surroundings. Images of resolute uniformed American Red Cross workers float above him in an almost dreamlike scene suggesting divine protection underscoring the poster’s tag line – Your RED CROSS is at his side.
This vintage original poster is folded as issued and shows modest toning from age and light handling wear. This poster shows a lateral crease running across the poster just below the center fold line. This poster is free of tape or pinholes and retains the original colors. Overall condition is very good.
