This is the vintage original 1946 official poster of the American Humane Association, the national organization known today as the American Humane Society with chapters focusing on animal welfare throughout the United States. This poster was created by the artist Dan Osher who was a staff sergeant in the US Army and an art instructor at the AAF Convalescent Hospital in Pawling, New York. The military rehabilitation hospital at Pawling was focused on treating wounded veterans of WWII. The hospital used companion service dogs in their rehabilitation programs for wounded veterans and this provided the inspiration for Osher’s 1946 official Humane Society poster titled Veterans In Peace.
This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and looks lightly used with just some light bumping along the right edge. The colors are bright and overall condition is very good.
