This vintage original Spanish travel poster was issued for the 1950 Holy Year. The Holy Year of 1950 was a year of special devotion and penance in the Roman Catholic Church proclaimed by Pope Pius XII on May 26, 1949. The poster features a stylized image of a pilgrim, staff in hand, walking towards the right, with architectural silhouettes of Zaragoza and Rome in the background. Text on the poster reads Pilgrim Of The Holy Year – Through Saragossa Spain To Rome. A name, presumably that of the artist, is printed in the lower right corner and looks like “Lalinde”. The right edge near the lower corner denotes the printer as “Imp y Lit. Ortega – Valencia”.
This vintage original poster is free or tape or pinholes and looks pretty well unused with just light handling, half inch tear on the right edge and light bumping along the top edge. Overall condition is very good. This is a rare poster that we've never seen before.
