This is a vintage original advertising promotional poster for Miles Davis’s highly influential 1970 studio album Bitches Brew.   This poster features the same artwork as the album cover created by German painter Mati Klarwein whose name is signed in print in the upper left corner of the image area.

Bitches Brew was recorded in August 1969 and released on the Columbia Records label in March 1970 and is regarded as the second album in Davis’s “electric period” following the critically acclaimed In a Silent Way released the prior year. For Bitches Brew Davis continued his departure from traditional jazz rhythms with new instruments such as electric piano and guitar to create loose, rock-influenced arrangements based on improvision.  Initially the album was a mixed commercial and critical success but it endured and grew in influence to become Davis’s first certificate Gold album and winner of the 1971 Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album.  In subsequent years, Bitches Brew continued to gain appreciation and is today regarded as one of jazz's greatest albums and a progenitor of the jazz rock genre.  In 2025, the album was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry.

This poster is a vintage original that would have been used by Columbia Records to advertise the album in record stores and for related promotional purposes.  This poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows moderate handling wear and some toning from age. The poster has a faint trace of staining which shows lightly along the bottom edge of the poster in couple small spots.  The poster has a couple tiny abrasions and two small holes of maybe an 1/8th of an inch on the right side.  The original colors are strongly retained and overall condition is very good as is.  Basic linen backing, which we can arrange for an additional cost, should get this poster looking almost like new.
