This is a vintage original advertising poster for John Lennon’s 1971 second solo studio album Imagine.  This poster features a photographic image of Lennon singing and playing a white Steinway piano taken by Peter Fordham and would have been used primarily for advertising and promotional purposes related to the album’s release.  A similar poster with the same image was issued as a folded insert with the album but this much rarer advertising poster differs in a few keys ways including having the words “It’s Here” printed in large red block capital letters in the upper right corner area. This poster also has the Apple Records logo printed on the upper right corner and the words “.imagine john lennon” printed on the upper left corner which do not appear on the folded album insert poster.  

The Imagine album insert posters are common because they were included with the album which sold many millions of copies.   This advertising and promotional poster is much rarer and next to impossible to find.  This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen.  There was a small stain near the top edge on the left side which was expertly mitigated during the linen backing process and still shows very faintly.   The poster was free or tape or pinholes and displays beautifully. Overall condition is very good.
