This is a vintage original poster for the PEARLS Exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History which ran from October 2001 to April 2002 and then moved onto Chicago’s Field Museum and other museum venues across the United States. This exhibit was touted as “the greatest collection of pearls ever assembled” and included 500,000 pearls including objects such as the pearl necklace given as a honeymoon gift to Marilyn Monroe by Joe DiMaggio. The show opened on schedule only a month after the 9-11 attacks and took on greater meaning as part of New York City’s civic recovery efforts. The lower margin indicates and a photo credit to Denis Finnin.
This poster is a vintage original from the show’s October 2001 opening at the American Museum of Natural History. The poster is free of tape or pinholes and looks pretty well unused with only light handling. Overall condition is excellent.
