This is vintage original c.1933 window card style poster or placard with the National Recovery Administration Blue Eagle emblem and the NRA Code. These posters were issued to business owners to put in their windows to show support for the National Recovery Administration programs that formed the cornerstone of Franklin Roosevelt’s Great Depression era New Deal. This poster has text that reads:
NRA CODE – we operate under an approved code and display the Blue Eagle as a symbol of cooperation
The Modernist NRA Blue Eagle emblem was created by noted graphic designer and artist Charles T. Coiner (whose name is signed in print in the lower right corner of the image area) and was in use between July 1933 and September 1935 so this poster would date to that time period. This vintage original poster is printed one side only on lightweight cardboard and shows slight dust staining and toning from age and light handling wear. Overall condition is very good.
