This vintage original poster was issued by the London Underground in 1926 to promote travel to Edgware, the terminus station of the Edgware Branch on the London tube system’s Northern Line. This poster was issued shortly after the Edgware branch opened in August of 1924, a time when Edgware was a leafy pastoral suburb that offered weary Londoners a welcome respite from the frenetic buzz of life in the great metropolis. A man with box camera readies for a shot as his companion in flapper hat holds flowers and gamely strikes a dainty pose.

This poster has been professionally linen backed and shows toning from age and expert repairs to some tears, wrinkles and scuffs in places. There is some replaced loss on the left margin and overpainting in the image area to improve appearances. The poster displays nicely and really captures the look and feel of London in the 1920s.
