This beautiful poster was created by the Czech avant-garde artist Vladimir Hipman in 1932. This is an English language poster printed in Czechoslovakia and issued to promote Czech travel and tourism in the American market. The image depicts a ski lift on Ďumbier, the highest mountain peak in the Low Tatras range of the Western Carpathians in what is today Slovakia. A linear map printed at the bottom illustrates connections to the region from various European capitals. Hipman’s avant-garde photography is the most remembered part of his artistic legacy today but he also created several beautiful posters including this example.
This vintage original poster has been professionally linen backed with minor restoration and touch up as needed. Overall condition is excellent.
