This is a 1940 carboard easel back sign issued by the Transcontinental & Western Air, Inc. airline, better known as TWA, to advertise the introduction of the Boeing 307 Stratoliner aircraft into their fleet. This sign depicts a sweeping view of the Boeing Stratoliner under the title BROADER WINGS To Span The Nation.

TWA was the second airline after Pan Am to deploy the Boeing 307 Stratoliner when they took delivery of five of the aircraft in early 1940. This sign features artwork from a national advertising campaign TWA ran in Time Magazine with this image appearing as a full page advertisement in the June 10, 1940 issue of TIME magazine. The artist’s name “Chase” appears in the lower left hand corner of the image.

This is an unrestored cardboard easel back sign issued in 1940. The sign has tack holes on the corners and a small notch off the left edge near the upper left hand corner. There is also another single tack hole or puncture near the top edge above the word “Broader” and another similar tack hole or puncture in the wing of the Stratoliner near the TWA logo. This vintage original 1940 TWA sign retains nice color and displays very well.
