This beautiful poster was designed by the artist Carlo Mattioli and issued by the Italian tourism authority in 1947 to promote travel to the city of Modena in Italy’s Northern Emilia-Romagna Province. Mattioli modernizes and stylizes the vigorous Romanesque style which in turn follows from Byzantine iconographic tradition. The poster is titled “MODENA Italy the romanesque town” and the lower margin indicates “Printed in Italy by the ENIT. Ente Provinciale per il Turismo di Modena – Esente da Bolla D.L.N. 1417 – 8-11-47 - Autorizzozione della Questura di Firenze – Arti Grafiche Alinari Baglioni – Firenze”.
This poster is a vintage original with no tape or pinholes and light handling wear. There is a short 2 cm tear in the margin on the left edge. Overall condition is very good.
