This vintage original poster was issued to promote the 1949 Venice Film Festival in Italy or the Biennale di Venezia Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica as it was known.  Established in 1932, the Venice Film Festival is the oldest in the world and, as one of the “Big Five”, one of the most important such festivals.  The 1949 festival was the 10th Venice Film Festival following disruptions created by WWII and saw the return to the original Palazzo del Cinema venue on the Lido Di Venezia.

This vintage original poster has been professionally backed to linen with some minor touchup as needed including expert repair to a small two centimeter notch off the lower margin which barely touches into the image area.   A short tear on the left edge and a short tear on the right edge have been expertly repaired as well.   The colors retain their original vibrancy and the displays beautifully.  Overall condition is very good.
