This vintage original poster was created by the artist Filippo Romoli and issued by ENIT, the official Italian government tourism authority, in 1950 to promote the city of Siracusa (or Syracuse as it is known in the English language) on the Italian island of Sicily. For this poster Romoli renders an image of the city’s Afrodite Anadiomene statue with an outline of an amphitheater seen in the background paying homage to Siracusa’s rich Greek and Roman heritage. The lower margin indicates this poster was printed in 1950 by Barabino & Graeve of Genova. Romoli’s signature appears in print on the left side of the image area.
This vintage original poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows light folds and moderate handling wear including light creasing to the upper right corner, a short half inch tear on the bottom edge without paper loss and light bumping to the edges in places. The colors remain sharp and overall condition is very good.
