This clever Mid-Century Greek travel poster was created by the artist S. Simitis and advertises Aegean Cruises aboard the M/v Semiramis arranged by the country’s National Tourist Organization in cooperation with the travel agencies of Greece. A friendly octopus invites the viewer to cruise an Aegean Sea decorated with colorful icons depicting a few of Greece’s many wonderful cultural and historical sites including the windmills of Mykonos and relics of the ancient world. The artist’s name is signed in the image area in the upper left hand corner and the lower margin indicates
“No. 4 – 10,000 – January 1955 – Published By The National Tourist Organization, Athens” and “Printed In Greece By ‘Papachrysanthou’, Athens”
This poster is a vintage original with a great Mid-Century design and is very clean, was never hung and is in excellent condition with just some very modest handling wear. Overall condition is excellent.
