This vintage original poster was created by the artist Robert Sivard and issued by the United States National Park Service in 1968. The poster features the Petersen House, a federal style row house built in 1849, which was located directly across the street from Ford’s Theater in Washington DC. 

President Abraham Lincoln would be shot by an assassin on the evening of April 14, 1865. The grievously wounded Lincoln would be transferred across the street to the Petersen House where he would linger his final hours until finally passing at 7:22am on morning of April 15. From that day forward, the Petersen House would always be remembered as the “House Where Lincoln Died”. The Petersen House along with Ford’s Theater would be designated National Historic Sites in 1932 and open to the public and administered by the National Park Service ever since. The artist Robert Sivard lived most of his professional life in Washington DC and served as Art Director for the United States Information Agency among other posts.

This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and shows only light handling wear and slight toning from age.  Overall condition is very good.
