This gorgeous vintage original Depression Era poster in one of several issued by the New York Central Lines to promote travel to destinations served by the railroad. For this poster, the artist Anthony Hansen renders an image a quaint seaside New England village replete with a lighthouse, fishing boats and tidy cottage homes. Text at the bottom of the poster touts New England as “America’s Historic Summerland”. The artist’s name is signed in print in the lower right corner of the image and the lower margin indicates this poster was printed by the Latham Litho. & Ptg. Co., Long Island City, New York.
This vintage original poster has been professionally conservation mounted to linen with some expert touch up as needed including repairs to a couple short tears without paper loss on the top edge. Fold lines and some creasing in the image area have been skillfully mitigated to show only slightly after the linen backing. Interested buyers are welcome to contact us for photos of the poster prior to linen backing. The original colors are retained, the poster displays beautifully and overall condition is very good.
