This poster, featuring the Scottish Fisher Lass, is No. 2 in the East Coast Types series created by the artist Frank Newbould for the London & North Eastern Railway (L.N.E.R.). This poster series featuring local characters was created in the late 1920s or early 1930s to promote railway travel to the East Coast of Great Britain. A Molly Malone type figure in a brightly colored apron and oversized rubber fishing boots cheerily goes about her work salting the day’s catch. This poster is commonly referred to as “Double Royal” size and the lower margin indicates “Printed in England“ and “Chorley & Pickersgill Ltd Lithographers Leeds”.

This poster has been professionally backed to linen with expert restoration and repair to short tears, creases and minor imperfects as needed. The poster shows some toning from age and displays beautifully aptly transporting the viewer back in time to a bustling Scottish fish market of 100 years ago.
