This vintage original c.1933 German travel poster features the Wernigerode Castle which is near the picturesque town of Wernigerode in Germany’s Harz Mountain. The poster has English language text indicating the address of the German Railroads Information Office in New York City. Also featured on the poster is a quote by Mark Twain “Summer in Germany is the Perfection of the Beautiful”.

The lower margin also indicates “Photo by Dr. Defner, Wernigerode” which is a reference to noted Austrian landscape photographer Adalbert Defner. Also printed in the lower margin is “Oscar Brandstetter, Leipzig” signifying the company that printed this poster.

This vintage original poster shows moderate handling wear and has a short tear of about a half inch in the upper margin and an ink hand stamp on the lower right hand corner not affecting the image area. There is another short tear in the margin on the upper left hand corner which has been stablished with a small piece of acid free paper archival tissue applied on the verso. The poster is otherwise in very good condition with edges lightly bumped and slight creasing in spots. Overall condition is very good.
