This vintage original poster was created by the artist Josep Morell Marcias and issued by the Spanish State Tourism Department. Josep Morell Marcias, who signed his work “Morell” and is often referred to as Jose Morell, designed several travel posters for his native Spain in the 1930s and 1940s. For this poster Morell renders a colorful view of two woman looking down at a port with ships as one woman waves a white handkerchief. The lower margin indicates the poster was printed in Spain and also indicates “Seix Y Barral” for the Barcelona printer. Also in the lower margin is document code “121-94-930”. This poster isn’t dated but was probably issued in the mid to late 1930s.
This vintage original unrestored poster was folded and later stored rolled. The poster shows moderate handling wear, fold lines and a pinhole on each corner. There is a short tear of less than inch on the top edge near the right side and another slightly longer tear on the bottom edge near the lower left corner as well as small bit of paper loss in the margin at the tip of the lower right hand corner . The colors are bold and the poster displays very nicely as is or could be linen backed
