This vintage original poster was created by the artist Josep Morell Marcias and issued by the Spanish State Tourism Department. Josep Morell Marcias, who signed his work “Morell” and is often referred to as Jose Morell, designed several travel posters for his native Spain in the 1930s and 1940s. For this poster Morell renders a colorful view of a woman frolicking in the surf with a large beachball and brilliant sun behind her. The lower margin indicates the poster was printed in Spain and also indicates “Piulats” presumably for the Barcelona printer I.G. Piulats Also in the lower margin is document code “719-5-015”. This poster isn’t dated but was probably issued in the late 1930s.
This vintage original poster has no tape or pinholes and shows light handling wear including some bumping along the edges, slight creasing in the image area and a small edge tear without paper loss of less than a half inch toward the bottom on the right side. The colors are strong and overall condition is very good.
