This gorgeous Mid-century poster was produced for the Tourist Traffic Branch of the Indian Ministry of Transportation and offers a colorful image depicting the Nandi Statue in the Chamundi Hills near Mysore. This statue was sculpted out of a single boulder during the reign of Dodda Devaraja Wadiyar who ruled from 1659 to 1673. This standalone statue is unique among the Dvarapala or gate keepers of this type that are normally found adorning Shiva temples throughout the Subcontinent. The lower margin is printed “A.C. 323 - English – 20,000” and indicates the poster was printed in India by Associated Printers (Madras) Ltd.

This vintage original poster was never hung and is in excellent condition with just some modest toning and light handling wear.
