This charming Rio de Janeiro, Brazil destination travel poster was created by William Linzee Prescott for Pan American, the World’s Most Experienced Airline. Prescott's whimsical style aptly captures the festivity of Rio’s Carnival. Prescott was a WWII veteran that landed on Normandy with the 82nd Airborne and then spent 10 months as POW in Germany. In 1967 he went to Vietnam as a civilian with the US Army Combat Artists Program but this poster produced in the late 1950s relates to his work as a commercial artist in the late 1950s.
This vintage original poster is a bit bumped along the upper left edge and there is slight creasing on the upper left hand corner. The poster has no tape or pinholes and otherwise shows just light handling wear while retaining strong color. Overall condition is very good.
