This rare vintage original poster advertises the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel in Hawaii.  The poster shows a woman frolicking in the ocean with the gleaming new Sheraton Waikiki Hotel rising on the golden sands of Waikiki Beach behind her with text that reads Sheraton Waikiki Hotel HAWAII – The Incredible Hotel Dominating Waikiki Beach.  

This poster isn’t dated but would have been issued shortly after the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel opened in 1971.   The artist’s name “Boyle” is signed in print on the lower right side of the image.  This poster is similar in style and the signature appears to match an American Airlines California poster attributed to a Peter Boyle although we don’t find any information or other examples of poster work by that artist.

This is an unrestored vintage original poster showing moderate handling wear including a lateral crease across the poster a few inches below the top edge. The poster is clean and free of tape but does have a few small tack holes in the image area which could be easily corrected with basic linen backing (which we can arrange for an additional cost).  The colors are strong and the poster displays beautifully as an original artifact from the early days of one of Waikiki’s grandest hotels.   

We find no auction history for this rare vintage original.  This hotel is still in operation today as a Marriott property called the Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort.
