This is an original 1919 typed letter on illustrated letterhead featuring advertising for the silent film Yankee Doodle In Berlin and an in person appearance of Mack Sennett’s Bathing Beauties.
This letter is a single sheet dated September 10, 1919 from Gene Marcus, General Manager, to a theater operator in Pennsylvania concerning a live appearance by Mack Sennett’s Bathing Beauties. The colorful illustration at the top of the letterhead features the Bathing Beauties striking different poses with text that reads:
Mack Sennett’s Bathing Beauties In Persin Appearing in Conjunction with “Yankee Doodle In Berlin” Tour Under Direction of Sol Lesser
The film Yankee Doodle in Berlin was produced by Mack Sennett and directed by F. Richard Jones. Sol Lesser purchased distribution rights to the film from Hiram Abrams in March 1919, before Lesser had really established himself as a major producer in the film industry.
This illustrated letterhead is a vintage original sent out in September 1941. Overall condition is very good with just light handling wear and modest toning from age and crease lines from having been folded. Overall condition is very good.
