This original antique poster was issued by the American Red Cross in 1919 and reuses the “Greatest Mother” image and theme created for the American Red Cross by Alonzo Earl Foringer 1918.  This poster was intended to boost participation in the Third Red Cross Roll Call which was a membership and fund raising appeal to the American public which ran for a little over a week in November 1919.  The Third Red Cross Roll Call had the goal of raising $15,000,000 for the improvement of public health including training and hiring more public health nurses to deal with the Spanish Influenza pandemic which was raging at the time.    Text of the poster reads:

This antique original poster is free of tape or pinholes and shows light handling wear including a tiny nick off the margin on the right edge. The poster has a few short tears on the edges which have been stabilized by the application of small pieces of removable acid free archival repair tissue applied on the back of the poster. Overall condition is very good.
