This vintage original poster was issued by the Office of Civilian Defense (OCD) in 1942 and features a photomontage style Modern design. The Office of Civilian Defense was established in May,1942 to coordinate State and Federal measures implemented for the protection of civilians during wartime. This poster features a Modern style photomontage design with photographic images of large gatherings of civilians appearing inside the large OCD letters that dominate the poster’s image. The name of the poster designer, Emily Newman, appear in the lower righthand corner and the USGPO document code and date 1942 appear in the lower left hand corner.
This vintage original poster was issued folded and doesn’t not appear to have ever been used. The poster is in excellent, near mint condition with just light handling wear and modest toning from age.
