Date: 1946
Artist: Unknown
Size (in): 22” x 14”
Size (cm): 55.9 x 35.6
Condition: B-
Linen backed: No
This rare poster was issued by the National Rifle Association of American in 1946 to promote gun safety. A man in an Elmer Fudd style hunting cap holds a smoking pistol and looks startled as a cow jumps up from behind a paper target pinned to a fence. Text above the image, BE SURE OF YOUR BACKSTOP, suggests the man taking target practice failed to followed gun safety rules and almost shot a dairy cow by mistake. The lower righthand corner shows a 1946 copyright by the National Rifle Association of America.
This vintage original poster shows moderate handling wear and has a small one inch piece of library tape at the top center which we haven’t tried to remove. There is a bit of light soiling and spotting at the top of the poster but nothing too serious. Overall condition is very good for this hard-to-find 1946 NRA poster.
