This is a vintage original newsstand poster that was issued to advertise the arrival of the latest issue of The Saturday Evening Post magazine.

This poster was issued for the July 20, 1946 edition of that magazine and features the artwork created for the cover of that issue by Stevan Dohanos. Dahanos offers a charming folksy idealized view of American life as group of eight boys with baseball gear sit and wait impatiently on the curb as their ninth finishes mowing the lawn.   Dahanos was a major illustrator associated with the Social Realism School who created artwork for more than 125 Saturday Evening Post covers, numerous WWII posters, several WPA post office murals and more.  Dohanos was also the chairman of the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee for more than 20 years and oversaw the selection of artwork for more than 300 postage stamps issued by the United States Postal Service.

This poster is a vintage original issued to advertise the Saturday Evening Post is July 1946.  This poster looks pretty well unused and shows only modest handling wear.  Overall condition is excellent.
