This is an original 1947 Esquire calendar featuring pinup girl artwork by J. Frederick Smith who also wrote articles and did cover illustrations for Esquire and that magazine’s sister publication Coronet.
This is a set of all 12 monthly calendar sheets each printed one side only and measuring about 12” x 8.5”. The plastic spiral binder that joined the calendar sheets together at the top has been removed and is not included so this lot is the 12 individual monthly calendar sheets and the cardboard backing piece and not the intact calendar. The lower righthand corner on the January calendar sheet shows a 1946 copyright by Esquire, Inc. and J. Frederick Smith’s name is signed in print on twelve calendar sheets.
These vintage original monthly sheets comprise the entire Esquire Pinup Girl calendar for 1947. The holes for the plastic binder along the top edge are broken in spots but the calendar sheets are otherwise in very good condition with moderate handling wear and some toning from age. The January calendar sheet is a bit more toned than the other sheets which are all in very good condition. The top edges could be trimmed slightly to remove the spiral binder holes or matted over if you wanted to frame these. Overall condition is very good.
