This vintage original window card style poster from the 1953 first American tour of Ballets Africains under the direction of Keita Fodeba. This is a window card style poster printed one side only on lightweight cardboard. The poster has graphics featuring dancers of the troupe and text that reads in part:

Luben Vichey presents BALLETS AFRICAINS De Keita Fodeba – Un Spectacle Exotique – Limited American Tour Direct from Triumphs in London and Paris

The poster is overprinted to show the venue as Chicago’s historic Blackstone Theatre where the Ballet Africians performed between April 17 and May 10, 1953 on their first American tour.

The company was formed by Fodeba in 1948 and became the national dance company of Guinea with a focus on promoting traditional African dance and culture. This vintage original window card poster shows light handling wear including slightly bumped lower corners and modest toning from age. Overall condition is very good.
